William "Bill" P. Hobby served as lieutenant governor of Texas for 18 years (1973-1991). Born in Houston on January 19, 1932, he is the son of former Texas governor William Pettus Hobby, Sr. and Oveta Culp Hobby. Hobby began his career in public service in 1959, serving as parliamentarian of the Texas Senate. Under President Lyndon B.
